I am the code blue chairman in our 200 bed hospital. Our dialysis unit is acroos the street from the hospital. Code blue responbse can be an issue. Is there any standard in which dialysis units or nurses are required to be ACLS certified?

The only standards currently are set within your own organization or perhaps you may have state regulations. I am an instructor for ACLS and set up training for my entire staff. We even put the tech through the same training just some they would have a better understanding of the process. We taught everyone to read a monitor.

Keep in mind also that the AHA does not "certify" people in ACLS. No level of competency is guaranteed or implied. I have taught ACLS for some programs that did an open book, group test. People were given the ACLS card for having come to class the 2 days.
