According to this story, the proceeds of a fund raiser are going to Davita and the cost of the tickets to attend are tax deductible. If a publicly traded for profit company is getting the money, how can it be tax deductible?

That's a very interesting question! Davita has already received $35,000 and they are hoping to get as much as $150,000 in donations to build a for profit center in Payson, AZ. I wonder whose 501C3 charitable organization number you use when you take that deduction? And is it legal or ethical for the charitable organiztion to make that donation to Davita?
