I was previously getting assistance with meds from our state program. The program shut down and my SW can not get any response from them. Is there anyone who knows of alternate programs who would allow my SW to contact them for directions on where/how to order free meds?
There are a number of web sites that offer information about medication assistance programs for people who qualify. Different pharmaceutical companies have different guidelines. A great web site that offers a searchable online database of medication assistance programs and information on drug discount cards can be found at www.rxassist.org/default.cfm.

Needymeds.com is also another good web site. Keep in mind that these web sites may or may not be updated w/current information; you social worker may want to verify program information by calling the pharmaceutical. I am sure your Social Worker has lots of extra time to make these types of calls Seriously though: You as a patient are also able to contact the pharmaceutical and ask them questions. As a social worker, I encourage those patients that are feeling well enough to research information on their own. This gives you back power and control over your situation.
