There are several ways to find quality dialysis facilities. The most objective way is to look at Dialysis Facility Compare. It reports information about the facilities, their location, ownership, and their outcomes -- anemia management, dialysis adequacy, and survival. Anemia and adequacy for facilities are compared to state and national outcomes. Survival is reported as better than expected, as expected, or worse than expected. Look at a map and decide approximately where you want to be. Select a state, county, city, or even zip code to do the search. Dialysis Facility Compare is at http://www.medicare.gov/Dialysis/Home.asp.

Another way to find a dialysis clinic is to look on any of the websites that give you names and contact information for dialysis clinics. Some of these include www.dialysisfinder.com, www.nephron.com (see dialysis units), www.wheredialysis.com.
Some provide maps to help you find clinics, however, they don't provide information on quality of the facility or its outcomes.

Finally, one of the best ways to find a good dialysis clinic after you've done the other two (above), is to visit different clinics in the area where you you'd like to move or visit. If you have family or friends they could visit the clinic for you. Pay attention to the "atmosphere" of the clinic. Listen to how staff talk with each other, patients, and you. Ask to see their new patient packet and look over their policies. Ask about such things as staff qualifications and ratios, treatment options offered, opportunities for education, exercise, shifts for working patients or students, activities available at the clinic, and other topics that are important to you. Talk with patients who are treated there or their families. If you don't feel comfortable, keep looking.

Great advice Beth Witten. Patient, I am not affiliated with this company, however, I have worked with several of the staff at one time or another and highly recommend the care. look up www.ARA.com (American Renal Alliance), they are located throughout the east coast, to include Florida.

I hope this assists you.
