Who offers an affordable insurance supplement to Medicare for patients already diagnosed with chronic renal failure? Im aware of medicaid and also aware of the Indiana Comprehensive Health Insurance. The patient isnt eligible for either. IN insurance is for those under 65. What insurance would accept this patient?

Check with a health insurance specialist in your state's insurance department. In Kansas and Missouri, the state insurance departments publish a booklet that lists all the options for Medicare supplement insurance, the coverage each offers (A-J), and the premium for each. This allows greater ease of comparison shopping than a phone book.

Both Kansas and Missouri require insurance companies that sell to Medicare beneficiaries 65 and older to also sell to Medicare beneficiaries under 65 if they apply within a specified period after their Medicare effective date. If your state doesn't have this provision, you might try seeing if you can build a coalition (CNSW and other renal organizations, Am Diabetes Assoc, Am Heart Assoc, Am Cancer Society, etc.) to advocate for this. Good luck!
