Hi,

I'm looking for a source of food models to use in educating renal patients and haven't been able to locate anything.

Can you help?

Many thanks.

Try calling the Dairy Council for their catalogue. I order posterboard-weight food models and then mount them on red construction paper for "STOP" foods or foods that need to be avoided or limited and on green construction paper for "GO" foods or foods that can be eaten on the renal diet. These really help me especially with my non-English speaking patients and with my pediatric patients. Cut out the construction paper to look like a road sign and put all the red signs on one large metal ring and all the green signs on another large metal ring. During treatments the patients can flip through them to help them remember good and bad food choices.

The Dairy Council also sells plastic food models but I have found them to be very expensive.

Hope this helps you out!
