Does anyone have any experience with liquid Megace? I've heard that it seems to be more effective than pill form. Also, does Megace raise serum Albumin levels or are the weight gains seen mostly due to accumulation of fat?

We have had two patients on Megace. They ate like horses, we could never fill them up, but albumin still never got above 3.4.

I have a lot of recent experience using the liquid form of Megace. I find that it is more effective than the pill form. Almost all these patients c/o waking in the middle of the night hungry. (Not such a problem from my standpoint!) I have seen an increase in serum albumin levels in most patients rather quickly - the only one who hasn't responded has quite a few co-morbidities. There has been significant weight gain - including fat, but also a great increase in energy, well-being, etc. The nephrologists I work with the most are using the liquid form almost exclusively now when prescribing Megace.
