howdy, i have been working for a non profit hospital dialysis unit for 4.5 years. this year i decided to branch out and have picked up work as a "prn rn" at a competitor in town, rcg. one of the facilities i float to has a tech that has been employed for a number of years. he does the bare minimun of work to get the tx. started, and then lets the machine run the pt. the other rn there as well as the (VERY non confrontational) manager there have told me stories that hilite his lack of intrest in anything relating to pt. care and/or safty.
i have to have the loose cannon work under my lisence while i'm charge there. short of a homoside, management won't likely rectify the situation. i'm a prn rn, an outsider, i have no leverage to change this situation, at least none i can see.
ANY SUGESTIONS ANYONE??

Is your manager non-confrontational because he can't find a replacement for the lazy worker or because he is a doormat type? There are too many workers who are a hazard to the patients. And you're right, your liscence is on the line.
