my aunt has been told that her there is thrombosis of her veins, due to which the present fistula is failing. Presently supporting only 100ml blood flow. Advised either permanent catheter or another fistula, which may also fail. Any third alternative? Can the thrombosis be reversed in any way? If not, which of these 2 is the better alternative? What about infection?
urgent replies requested.

What is thrombosis of the veins? Is your aunt diabetic? Has she seen her surgeon to ask for remedies?

I asked about this at my partner's dialysis clinic last night. One of the other patients there is facing a failing fistula as well. The nurses spoke with his Doctor who then ordered a fistulagram. They said that a fistulagram allows a Dr to see exactly where the blockage is occuring in the fistula and often remedy the blockage. Has this been explored as an option?

Thanks for the efforts. This has not been offered to us here. Will check with the doctor and see if this is possible.
