What is the question here? Was the dialysate flow rate supposed to be 800 ML/min. and you left it at 300,500, or the other way around? Some units turn the flow down between patients when there is no tretment being given. If you did a treatment with a lower dialysate flow than was prescribed than the patient may have gotten a less effective clearance from that treatment. And I did say, may, not that they absolutely did get a less effective treatment. If you used a higher flow than was prescribed than there was probably no harm done. Some dialysis units do not have enough water system capacity to support higher flows so if every patient was on the highest flow they might run out of water. Also, a lower flow uses less dialysate solution, so it is cheaper for a unit to use lower flows. Patient's lab values should be followed closely by the Nursing and Medical staff to determine whether a quality treatment is being given.
