Please forgive me for any butchering of the medical terminology that I my use. I am a Safety Coordinator at a Hospital and I am currently trying to help some of our nurses with a routine task that is causing back injuries. The task involves tha Gambra Medical PRISMA machine and the injuries come about from the placement and removal of bags (approx. 10 lbs)on the machine. Watching the nurses perform this task shows that they are relying on a squatting position to attach or remove the bags which results in the injury to the back. We are currently trying to re-train them to perform the task on a one knee type of approach which keeps the back in a better position, however I was wondering if anyone out there is aware of another approach which would eliminate the bending all together.
We have approached the manufacturer but since they have a corner on the market it isn't high on their to do list and we have not gotten anywhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

You should then try the Fresenius K machine for all of your RRT needs. There would be no bag exchanges needed. More information could be retrieved from your dialysis staff.
