Hello, has anyone gone to school, clinicals, while working in dialysis? Did your exp in dialysis help with the rest of clinicals? Was your employer helpful with schedule to allow flexibility for school? Did you recieve multipe job offers upon completion of degree? How does pay for dialysis nurse compare to other branches of nursing? Thank-you for your help, looking ahead to fall when I "should" start cinicals.

Being a dialysis manager many of our techs went thru nursing school. They all did very well, some stayed in dialysis and became team leaders in our facility or moved on to other facilities, 2 went to ER, others went straight to mobil acutes to make the big bucks. Hang in there, it is well worth it, bring your books to study during slow times or during breaks. We always tried to accomodate nursing students schedules. Your diaysis experience will be a great asset, you will ace the renal section of your nursing rotation. Good luck to you!

In regards to money. Shop around. It depends on the need. It is comparable, a new grad with dialysis experience will get more money than a new grad without (in dialysis). Look for hire on bonuses, relocation bonuses. Acute nurses get paid very well.
