I work in a hospital where bedside nurses are being asked to remove temporary dialysis catheters. What are the "critical steps"? What are your thoughts on bedside nurses doing this? Thanks in advance.

Done correctly, It is safe for nurses to do, As long as it is a temporary cath and NOT a tunneled cath.

Are you referring to an abdominal Peritoneal Dialysis tube/catheter?
