I worked for RCG as a tech for about 7 years before it was bought by Fresenius. Both companies spend alot of time educating with inservices and ongoing education like conferences etc for staff and patient education every month. RCG also had a great training program for all new techs and nurses. The amount of education and testing was great. My husband is in the Air Force so we ended up moving to another state with a no name company where the standard of practice seems to be different and whatever is cost effective. I work for the University so there is no big company backing them with $$, there is no education for new people. They learn the machine and are given a book on HD if they choose to read it. No class room training, they work with a preceptor for 4-5 weeks and that is it. It is a complete mess.... We have the cheapest products and do things the old fashion way.... I ask questions to these people and they have no idea what I am talking about. I use to love working in dialysis and now im looking for something else. In the 2 years I have been here we have never had a inservice and only 2 staff meetings. No conferences...nothing.....
I'm sorry that you are frustrated at your new job. It sucks when patient care suffers for cost considerations. Can you try to find a near by Fresenius location?

Hey Air Force wife.Where in the boondocks are you at?It depends on your location to keep up with the current Dialysis procedures .Something that is hard to do in MINOT,ND and therein lies the problem.Sorry but do not give up We need great Techs to remain inthe field...
Yes, here in Utah dialysis is ran by the University. They are non-profit. Liberty has a few clinics and Davita has two. It is hard for me to convince anyone of anything if it costs money. I see so many people that have a lack of understanding about what they are doing. I actually miss all those inservices!
