When Patient is allergic to heparin, what can
I use to pack S/C cath ports now that urokinase is not avalible?

Check last years ASN abstracts. There was one by Dr. Ashe discussing the use of citrate as a lock post treatment for catheters.

Also last winter at the ANNA Advanced Practices Meeting in Savannah, GA. there was a discussion about using citrate in pediatric patient's catheters. They mentioned that they had seen a significant reduction in catheter infections since they switched from heparin to citrate. I am sorry I don't remember who it was that presented that study, but I'm sure if you contact ANNA they can tell you.
