I have taken it upon myself (in a moment of madness) to write protocols for practice within our haemodialysis unit. The protocols were started a few years ago but never finished. Any ideas where to start, where to get advice or info? Anyone else had a moment of madness?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Donna,
What type of protocols are you writting? Are these nuring policy/procedure type or are they protocols that adjust things such as EPO and Iron or MD orders?

They are nursing procedure protocols so that hopefully everybody will be following the same evidence based guidelines.

Donna,
Try the ANNA and the other renal professional organizations. Also references such as the DOQI Guidelines can help. The drug and dialysis product manufactures can also help with specifics to their products such as medications or dialyis equipment. Start with one area an the branch out so you don't get overwhelmed.
