I am needing feed-back on this subject, what are different states doing. Is alcohol
considered a drug or a cleansing ageant?

Robin--
I think the problem is more that LifeSites are catheters. Can techs access catheters in your state?

I dont think alcohol is considered a med but techs are not able to give Tylenol & it is available over the counter. Techs are allowed to access lifesites at our unit. We
have ahd alot of problems with these accesses.I am not implying that it is tech related but I dont think they have ironed all the kinks out yet and there are alot of infections with the sites.

We have had a lifesite patient in our unit about a year now. We have had no problems with infection etc, AS LONG AS YOU STICK TO THE PROTOCOL. PCT's are not allowed to assess, stick, etc., only to initiate the treatment. I did get pulled to a unit lately that had a lifesite pt. and they have had multiple problems with it, esp infections. I guess they have not been sticking to the protocol.

Once again these are procedures that I have seen performed by technicians on a daily basis. It seems to be a unit policy ,which is different from clinic to clinic.
