<Dialysis Man>
Posted
This is totaly unacceptable behavior by these staff members. I am a RN with 10+ years of dialysis experience. I have noticed a trend in the for profit companies. Its all about getting them on and off the machine with very litte inbetween. There should be some type of education requirements for dialysis technicans just like a certified nurses aide. The lack of theory puts patients in jeopardy and is a big liability for any company. In addition ESRD patients have many comorbidties and require close and frequent monitoring.

The techs at our unit are treated like low life. We went to a for profit company, and you can tell. I have worked as a tech for 15 years. It also took 15 years to make top pay. I love my job, and the patients are why I come back everyday. If the managment would just stay home, things would be ok, They won't even say HI when they come in. They take people who have been there only 1 year and make them teachers for new employees. It is shameful to work in these conditions. I only hope that every patient would become educated as possible. Someday, us techs may have to depend on you to help us, that is the only way this will get better, the ratio at our unit is going to 5-1 , I can handle it, can the employee that has been there 3 months? No way. Can anyone guess which company I work for? I wish I could organize a union. Does Indiana have unions in Dialysis?

Patients who are capable should be looking at self care and home dialysis instead of the continous complaining about centers. The complaints have gone unanswered for years and years. Unless you actually have cause enough to sue things will not change. I also think staff would do a great service to their patients if they started pushing for these modalities to be available at the centers they work for.

Hi Everybody!

I am a Healthcare research analyst for Frost & Sullivan and I am interested in gathering information on the use of topical hemostats to control excess bleeding at the access site, the type of products used, under which other circumstances might these products be used, if the current methods are adequate, what would be needed to improve these methods(if at all), what is the percent of incidence of this type of complication (serious bleeding), etc.

I would greatly appreciate your help with this project.
Should you decide to participate, the discussion will be in the form of a telephone interview and will last about 20 minutes.
We are also in a position to offer you an honorarium of $50.00 for your time. This would be in the form of an AMEX gift card (for safety reasons) mailed to you in the next 6 weeks.
Please respond at your earliest convenience by indicating time, date and a telephone number where you can be reached. I will write back to you to confirm the appointment.
As it stands at the moment, I will be scheduling for the coming 2 weeks (Jan 23-Feb 6th).

If you have any question, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at: Norma.Vela-Roch@Frost.com or call at 210-247-3891.
Please let me know
