Can you direct me to some studies that demonstrate the use of blood volume monitoring in helping patients achieve optimal therapy ? We have several patients that crash and have to come off early. We've tried soduim modeling, UF modeling to no avail. Looking for some proof that BV monitoring will work for these patients.

Hannah,
We are currently conducting a multi-center clinical study to prove that volume monitoring during dislysis significantly reduces hospitalizations due to volume related ICD-9 Codes. In the interim I can direct you to several articles that support the use of volume monitoring during dialysis.

The 1998 Special Supplement to Nephrology News and Issues had an article by Howard et al entitled "Assessing the Value of Blood Volume Monitoring to Improve Outcomes", Steuer et al "Reducing Symptoms During Hemodialysis by Continuously Monitoring the Hematocrit", AJKD, vol 27,No4 (April),1996 pp 525-532. You can visit our web site @ www.crit-line.com to review all literature available.
Please e-mail me if you have further questions. I would be happy to help you.
Thanks,
Nancy
