Nancy,
What role do you think blood volume monitoring has in the prevention of vascular access complications? Any link of hypotension during or post hemodialysis to graft/fistula clotting? Deborah |

Deborah,
We know that following dialysis many patients have significant hypotensive episodes, which can contribute to access morbidity. Careful monitoring of the patient's volume status during dialysis, can reduce post-dialysis hypotension. At the recent ASN in Miami, Dr. Adam Bagga, from The University of Western Ontario presented a poster session showing that The Control of Ultrafiltration by Continuous Blood Volume Monitoring (BVM) improves the well being of the dialysis patient. If you are interested in the abstract, please let me know and I will send it to you. Thanks, Nancy |
