Any one has experience using Maltron's Body composition analyzer? It is supposed to measure body fat, muscle mass, total water volume, extra and intra-cellular fluids and many other parameters: do you find the measurements accurate and reliable?

Thanks.

We are starting to use the Maltron 916 for routine assessment of dry weight and are finding it to correlate well with blood pressure and patient well being.
We look at extra cellular volume and as a percentage of total body weight.
we adjust dry weights to keep the percentage between 22-27%

Hope this helps

Hello Andrea

Appreciate your response.

We are considering buying a maltron body composition analyzer to complement x-ray, physical observation in adjusting patients' dry weight.

Now that you have had a few weeks using the device, have you found any drawback with the analyzer? Would you recommend other dialysis centre acquring one unit?

Thanks.

We have a very small patient poulation and therefore have not used the Maltron extensively but it certainly has been a very useful tool to aid clinical asessment. I would certainly recommend others trying it.I think it may also have a role in patient concordance in terms of showing that the weight is fluid.

What is the average cost of an analyzer, and are there associated costs as well?
