Hi! How is everyone? I just found this site so, I have a quick question. My sister has been here before and she told me about this discussion board, I hope you can answer my question. I do dialysis three times a week, for 3 in a half hours. I've been running backwards due to cloats, and some other things they will be testing today. Last night, everything looked good so they ran my maching normal, but midday, during school today I got VERY dizzy, like I could see people sitting where they were in class, and I didn't feel as if I was really dizzy though. I had a piece of gum, and now I feel stable, and not dizzy, I have just have a mild headache in my lower eyes. Does that sound out of the ordinary, or just normal because of not being dialysized regularly for some time now? I'll tell my nurses today, but I'm just worryed that the dizzy spell wasn't normal.

Thanks to all who help me,
Tara

Tara,

The most likely causes of what you described are low blood pressure or low blood sugar. My best GUESS is that it was your blood sugar since you said things were better after a piece of chewing gum, which probably gave you a little sugar boost.

Hi:

Dizziness can be caused for a variety of reasons, including too much or too little dialysis and low blood count. Have your nurses check your levels next time you visit. But it's not uncommon.

Best,
Mike

I took a Catherter Line Test, and the results looked great, nothing seem to be the matter. However, I told my nurse about the dizzy spell, and she didn't know why, I had a ear spliting headache during the line test, before I did head down to do it, the nurse took my blood pressure, and said it was good. I think it might have been 119/75.. Not too sure, though it was a number close to that. The headache went away after I got some sleep when I returned home. I didn't take any medicine to get rid of it. Thanks for all your help
