My father has been on dialysis for 2 yrs. He has had problems with his knees (arthritis we guess). After each dialysis session, he has so much pain from them that it's hard for him to walk. The pain eases off on the non dialysis days. He has asked his nephrologist, who tells him to let him know if it gets worse he'll get him an appointment with an orthapedist.
Has anyone experienced or heard of anything similar?

I have alot of joint problems from dialysis, The pain in my joints is always worse post treatment! I always feel much better on the day I go in for my treatment! I do take a low dose pain medication and advil, But mostly I endure the pain and do as much as I can to keep my knees and other joints moving!

Hi:

Wonder if this could be caused by removing too much liquid during dialysis session. Have you already discussed that possibility with your doctor? And perhaps calcium deposits are causing pain in lower limbs.
Good luck

Hi:

Can you be more specific, painful? Is it in your joints, too? Or elsewhere?

Occasional discomfort, even pain, is not unheard of, but you suggest a much more distressul situation.

What has your nephrologist suggested?

I look forward to your reply.

Michael
