I am retaining a considerable amount of fluid in my abdomin and may potentially have a tear in my peritoneal membrane. After testing to confirm this I will need to go off of PD for two weeks to heel the peritoneal membrane. It was suggested that I have a cathedar put in for hemo during those two weeks. Has anyone gone through a similar experience and would it be feasible to postpone cathedar placement until my creatinine reaches a certain level?

I have a catheter in my chest now. It is something temporary that would suffice. Good thing is no needle sticks or bandages. The only thing that really hurt was after the surgery it felt like Mike Tyson hit me in the chest.

It is not a good idea to delay catheter placement for hemodialysis. Your BUN and creatnine will start to rise immediately when PD is ceased. I am certain your physician wants you to hemodialyze three times a week until your membrane is healed. Good dialysis will also help the healing process!
