I am just astounded by the seemingly lack of care given by some dialysis centers and by some neph's. My center is a non-profit in Muncie, Indiana and I feel is run beautifully. I see my Neph twice a week as he comes to see me while dialyzing. The nurses and techs are wonderful, very caring and the head nurse (or nurse manager as they like to be called now) is always hanging around. Our charts are checked every half hour and they take readings from the machines. Our social workers see us once a week, as well as the dietician and exersize person. The nurses go over our monthy labs with us as does the dietician. This is just part of what goes on when I dialyze. I can only hope that if you are not getting at least this amount of care, contact Medicare and the National Kidney Foundation. If you reside in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky or Illinois, your center is probably a member of the Renal Network, a watchdog group that makes sure your dialysis center is doing its job.
