Can anyone tell me what people are paying for F-80 dialyzer? F-70 dialyzer?

Do people think that Fresenius recent announcement re: expanding dialyzer capacity will lead industry to single use only? Will these dialyzers drop to a price that it makes it uneconomical to pay the costs of reuse??

Thanks,

Jeff

Try this strategy ----

Make single use biocompatible dialyzers the standard of care---

Offer these dialyzers AT COST to your own facilities---

Charge all others what the market will bear----

Sell more dialyzers to other providers----

Good for patients----

Good for business----

What will happen to the market price of the multi-use dialyzer if production drops due to the change at Fresenius? Maybe this is another factor to go to single use, depending on the situation.

Here is my issue. If Fresenius raises production on their single use product to such a dramatic level that they are able to lower the production price and resulting sales price to a point that is at or close to the price of reprocessing ($6-$7) will the whole reuse concept go away - and if so what will happen to firms that are in the reprocessing business and those product lines and solutions (ie - Fresenius, Minntech, and Mesa Laboratories)

Any thoughts???

Big, high-clearance dialyzers will still be reused for several more years----

The home hemodialysis market may require multi-use dialyzers, too----

I don't think reuse is going away soon---

JR,

Are you aware if people in the industry are using the Gambro / Baxter JV PSN dialyzer as single use and what price they are getting for this.

In addition, are you aware of what price Fresenius is getting from their Optiflux dialyzer?
I am under the impression that these are both single use high flux dialyzers - Am I correct???

Jeff,

It will be interesting to see what will happen with the market price of all dialyzers as Fresenius makes this change. The market price will be one key variable in the equation which drives the decision each provider needs to make between singe use versus reuse.
As the moderator of this board, I need to say that asking for specific prices for specific dialyzers is not appropriate in a public discussion board. First, contracts are cut with confidentiality clauses which prohibit the sharing of pricing information. Second, we risk anti-trust issues if people did respond with pricing information.
Again, great discussion on the economics of this change, but we should not ask for nor should we respond with specific pricing information.

if reuse is on its way out, why is gambro going into production of reusable dialyzers? surely they will not limit sales of these to competitors. cobe/gambro is big business...key word being business. they are not going to markets dialyzers just for other users. someway they are going to cut into the reuse business...key word being business.
