A staff satisfaction survey would be a list of questions to determine what factors contribute to staff satisfaction or dissatisfaction. This would be used to make improvements in certain areas that could help prevent the turnover of staff.

Gallup has developed an 11 question staff satisfaction survey. The questions are designed to measure staff engagement with the employers vision and general satisfaction with their jobs. The answers are scored 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). Employees are surveyed within work groups and job titles. The aggregate score is determined by the responses within the work group or by job title. Individual question and aggregate survey scores are then compared to Gallup's statistical database of the companies they've surveyed and rated below 50 percentile - within the top 50 percintile and within the top 75 percentile. Group scores within the company are also compared to other groups within a geographical area and to the company as a whole.
Employees are given a survey code number and respond by calling an 800 number. The code number I believe identifies the survey, the job title and location but does not specifically identify the individual. Employees must be with the company at least 6 months to participate.
Once the survey is completed and the results calculated. Gallup will conduct a training session with the company and it's various managerial groups to explain the survey process, interpretation of the questions and corresponding results, how to present the data to staff, and how to improve satisfaction.
I have no idea what the cost is of the survey.

We are getting ready to take this survey in April. It will be the fifth year that our health system is using it.
We are also using the Gallup survey - the code given to employees is a "manager code" which was supplied with the literature to employees. When the employee calls the 800 number to complete the survey, they are prompted to enter their managers code. This identifies the department they work in.
