October 18, 2001 - A judge overseeing an investigation of the deaths of six dialysis patients in the Spanish city of Valencia has accepted a request from the victims' families to call three Baxter representatives to give evidence. September 3, 2001 - Spanish health authorities have ordered hospitals to stop using the Baxter Althane A-18 dialyzer while they investigate twelve dialysis patient deaths during the month of August. A Baxter spokeswoman said their product had nothing to do with the deaths. August 31, 2001 - As a precautionary measure, Baxter has initiated a voluntary recall of two batches of the A-18 dialyzers.
