October 15, 2002 - A dispute between the American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA) and the ANNA Foundation has become public.

ANNA and its members formed the ANNA Foundation in 1999 for the purpose of providing scholarships and grants for ANNA's members in pursuit of scholarly activities. In November 2000, the ANNA Board of Directors voted to provide the ANNA Foundation with a restricted endowment gift in the amount of $500,000.

On August 15, 2002, the ANNA Foundation Board of Trustees notified ANNA that the ANNA Foundation had taken actions 1) to remove ANNA as sole member of the Foundation and 2) provide for the future succession of Foundation Board members by nominating and voting among themselves without ANNA approval.
