October 18, 2001 - Earlier this month, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) released its new American National Standard "Water treatment equipment for hemodialysis applications" (ANSI/AAMI RD62:2001). Here is a press release from AAMI.

September 17, 2001 - The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation has released its new collection of Dialysis Standards - 2001 Edition. This includes two new AAMI/ANSI Standards:

  • Water treatment equipment for hemodialysis applications and
  • Concentrates for hemodialysis



May 31, 2001 - The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), founded in 1965, is an alliance of nearly 6,000 members united by the common goal of increasing the understanding and beneficial use of medical instrumentation.

AAMI (web site) is the primary source of consensus and timely information on medical instrumentation and technology, and is the primary resource for the industry, professions, and government for national and international standards.

AAMI has just released two new documents pertaining to dialysis and other related medical equipment. They are available for purchase only (not free):
Dialysis, 2001 edition - AAMI Standards and Recommended Practices for Dialysis. List price is $275.

Medical Equipment Management Manual, 2001 Edition - How to be in Complete and Continuous Compliance with the JCAHO Standards. The list price is $65.
