November 1, 2001 - A hospital in Albany, NY has started an unusual service for attracting hard-to-find nurses. The St. Peters Health Care Services web site lets nurses bid on shifts and wages at its eight facilities. The site posts open shifts available to full and part time employees. The system accepts bids according to nurses' skill level, shift schedule, past performance, and offering price.

Here's how it works and their bidding rules.

RenalWEB currently has over 50 ads for dialysis RNs in its on-line classified ad system.

The Florida Hospital Association (FHA) has just released a report entitled, "Finding and Keeping Nurses: What is Working? FHA Study on Recruitment and Retention" (in pdf format).

Here is a summary of the report from the American Hospital Association.
