January 19 - Updated recommendations for Antiretroviral Therapy in Adults from the International AIDS Society were published today in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

These new HIV-related guidelines emphasize tailoring treatment for each individual rather than focusing on the eradication of the virus with anti-viral drugs. On January 18, President Clinton announced that he is requesting a $50 million increase in spending on AIDS education and an additional $125 million on AIDS treatment.
