A "Five Star" facility is about to open in my area and is offering all modes of dialysis (chronic, nocturnal, peritoneal, pediatric, etc.)

I am interested in transferring, and am intrigued about doing pediatric patient care. Is there any special training that I should undergo? I did once have a patient who was 15 when he dialyzed. It was on a regular H machine, same parameters, using 16G needles.

Is there a difference for those younger patients?

There are many more facets to pediatric care, some of which are nutritional needs and psycho-social. Care givers must work with not only the parents, but also with the school nursing staff to assure continuance of care for these special kids.
