Anyone in NY State doing some form of home hemo dialysis and if so where is the center that offers it. I have been looking for quite sometime and can't find a program. Our center hasn't had any success either.

One program I am aware of is the Daily Nocturnal Hemodialysis Program located at the Hortense & Louis Rubin Dialysis Center. I believe the company operates two facilities: one in Troy and one in Saratoga Springs.

Hi:
Its been my experience that programs are popping up all over North America over the last few years. Check with the NKF to see if they are keeping track of these centres or ask your nephrologist - in fact provide him with information if he/she seems unaware of this availability.

I've heard that FMC has numerous SNHD programs on the East coast and a few other cities. Why are FMC's programs limited to these areas and notavailable in the rest of the country? Also, why doesn't FMC advertize it?
The FMC home hemo programs are few and far between even in the Northeast. Where I live I would have to change units and travel up to two hours to the unit that offers it, and they are due to move shortly, to a city even farther away! They are the only training unit for miles around. Also I was told I would have extra out of pocket expenses if I decide to do home hemo. They want me to put in DI tanks at my expense, and also pay for the upkeep/recharging fees, which can be quite costly. That is in addition to the utilitie fees and extra phone line for monitoring. My insurance company already pays them a hefty fee for treatments, so the other fees would be in addition to that. Just because they offer something, doesn't mean it's a good deal!
in NYC there is a center on E34th St. which is doing home hemo, it is the Downtown Hemodialysis Center. the only cost to the patient is to put in a phone line for the monitoring.
