My mother in law was very active, travelled, very loving and thoughtful. She had bllod pressure problems for a year and was being medicated for it but nothing worked for long. Eventually they decided that it was caused by her kidneys failing. She was hospitalized and started dialysis. She was still the same person but a little tired. A few weeks later she developed an infection in her port and became confused and was hospitalized. Since that time she has been having her 3 weekly dialysis treatments but she was extremely anxious and couldn't sit still. They had her see a psychiatrist and now shes on antidepressants, Ativan(which they've had her on all along) and 3 blood pressure meds. She sleeps all day is is not the same person. Shes not the mother in law I knew. Its like shes not there anymore. The doctors dont do anything I beleive because she is 70. I'm sure if she was 40 she'd have all kinds of tests. Have you heard of any similar cases?

MAybe PD is not the right choice for her and maybe she should go on Hemodialysis. It sounds like to me she is having a build up of Toxins in her body and she is not getting the dialyis she needs...

Do you have any lab results you can post...Creatinine levels Bun levels, and her KT/v if you have that...

Im sorry to hear that your not getting the answers you need for you MIL
