This may sound like a stupid question... however nobody I know has been able to answer it yet. When speaking about dialysate composition (e.g., 35 mEq/L of bicarb) what exactly is a mEq? Looking at it from a logical standpoint I would assume that it is 1/1000 of whatever the unit of measure it is dissolved in. In this case 35/1000 of a liter. No?
