I have been on PD for about 4 weeks now and sometimes I get an aching pain in my neck and shoulders that starts during the treatment and last for a day or more. Has anyone experienced this type of pain and was it temporary? I know my body is adjusting to the weight of the solution, but how long does this adjustment period last?
I have been on PD for 4 weeks also and sometimes I get a pain in my neck, but I have pretty much all the time a pain underneath my right rib cage. My Dr. doesn't know what is the cause, but I suspect that since most Drs. are not on dialysis of any type what they know comes from books, lectures and patient feedback and there is nothing like the real thing. I am starting the cycler tomorrow night and I am hoping that it will help the pain. I also get sharp pains in my bladder when the drain is complete. I am learning to live with the different pains and hope as time goes by they will go away. Anyone have any feedback for me?
You are so right, Earlene. My PD nurse says she has not heard anyone else complain of this and admits she can't understand the different pains we are going through.
Good luck with the cycler. I have an appointment in a few days and we will discuss trying the cycler and I hope it works for me.

Hi, I had severe pain with my peritoneal catheter. The pain radiated up into my neck. They did a test on me and discovered that the catheter tubing inside had "flipped up" and was causing the pain. This can be corrected.

Hi Vicki,
It turned out that it was air in the tubing that caused that pain. I'm on the cycler now so that problem has been eliminated. Thanks for responding.

I have the same pain when fully draining for more that 20mins. Right now I limit my draining to no more that 20mins and put less fluid in. My doctor recommends 2000ml, 4 times a day (durring the two middle cycles, I use only 1800ml).
Anyone know if this is harm me if I do not use the full solution every time?
