i would like to know the proper way to discard the PD waste after it is finished draining..what is correct way to discard the waste? flush the drainage waste away? or discard the waste fill bag altogether..? i have asked several, gotten several responses...

We teach our patients to drain the effleuent from the drain bag down the toilet then put the empty plastic bag into a plastic trash bag and dispose of in the garbage.

Yup that is the same way I was taught as well. Worked fine .. just make sure to flush it as soon as done draining. Don't get lazy and just leave it there til later.
