Am calling from the east coast of scotland where there appears to be very little knowledge of how to manage this particular issue in the dialysis client. Anyone wishing to pass on any information regarding this to myself would be mor than welcome, i am in a somewhat rarified position in that not only am i a nurse i am also a renal client. Any help in alleviating the pain and discomfort i am currently suffering would be more than welcome.

The best approach will depend on which type of access you have. the majority of steal syndrome occurs with upper arm fistula or grafts. If this is the case the best procedure to correct the problem is the DRIL procedure. You would have to discuss this with you nephrologist and surgeon. An absract of the success of the procedure is available at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/htbin-post/Entrez/query?db=...&dopt=r&uid=12170205
