I really don't know anything about the Shiley, but wonder if a Quinton is being mistaken for a Shiley. Do you know if the Shiley is still available? Is it single or double lumen, or does it come in both? I am assuming it is a shortterm catheter. How is a single lumen catheter used for dialysis?

Shiley was the old Vas Cath. I think somebody bought them and they have a new name now. It might be Quinton.

The Shiley catheter is no longer manufactured to my knowledge. It was never manufactured by Quinton, now owned by The Kendall Company located in Mansfield, Massachusetts
Dave, If you use a single lumen catheter for dialysis, you have to have a single needle device. I have not seen a single lumen catheter used in the last several years here in the States. Single needle dialysis is quite common in Europe.

Thanks for setting the record straight on the Quiton connection. I think "Shiley" is one of those terms like "Kleenex" or "Coke" that we start to use to describe a variety of different similar products. That's probably why it's still being used even though the actual product no longer exists.
