Hello folks. I am a lonely HDT who is also a first time user. The situation is as follows; a patient with a central line catheter clots their dialyzer (CT-190) during the run. After rinsing back the Arterial blood line (BL), the rest of the set-up was thrown away with patient blood. While disconnecting venous end of BL, I noticed a substantial clot at the tip. Taking a 10cc syringe, the attempt to aspirate the venous lumen of double lumen cath. failed. Consultation w/RN led to irrigating w/10cc NS and 5000u hep. instillation (normal off-going protocol). I do not feel comfortable instilling anything into a clotted line. I would appreciate any input/info. on articles relating to specific problem. Thanks!
