I'd like to hear from nurses/techs what is their experience on using access flow monitor equipment.
We want to implement a Vascular Access monitoring program in our facility and I'd like to get info from the staff that is using it.
What kind of equipment are you using (Transonics, critline ABF, TQA, fresenius access flow monitor using conductivity, etc.)
Is it easy to use?
How long does it take for each patient?
Please any input will help
thanks

I am currently a Vascular Access Coordinator utilizing the transonic monitor. It works well for a large population of patients, allows you to do cardiac output testing, and the software is good.As a former Clinical support specialist for Hemametrics (Crit-line moniter) this device is more time consuming however the results are comparable with TQA or Delta-H.This monitor is good in a smaller clinic and allows you to do blood volume monitoring in real time,.The soft ware is user friendly. The Fresenious version utilizes the twist lines and can give you a good result, however you must utilize your own software for tracking. The other systems avalable use pressure as the variable and you track pressures to look for a trend. The GOLD STANDARD is The Transonic Monitor and is the most widely used. The Coordinator should be a technically proficient Clinician who has experience with FISTULAS understands accesses ,KDOQI Vascular Access Guidelines, The Fistula First Initiatitives and communicates with a Vascular Access Center to ensure that patients are being seen in a timely manner
