I am an Infection Control nurse in an acute care hospital. Our department has been asked to do a study of infections within 30 days of AV grafts placed by our surgeons. We are looking for specific definitions of infection for AV grafts. There are none available through CDC, APIC, etc. What we are most interested in is "slime producing bacteria" noted by surgeons when taking out an apparent infected graft. We cannot find that term anywhere! Any help or references would be appreciated. Thank you!
