Hi everyone! I understand that there is a way to change the brushes in a K blood pump without trashing it. Does anyone know the procedure, and if so could you please explain it? Right now, any time we get a A-11, A-24 we just order a new motor/tach. assy. Getting kind of expensive.
Thanks in advance.

I do not think that you can without destroying the hall effect sensor.

yes yes there is a way!!! lol go to home depot and get yourself a wheel puller....use it to remove the top of the pump and not destroy the sensor. very simple....the actual motor needs to stay put as you use the puller to remove the top.

The down-side is that if anything happens to the patient with a rebulid BP motor fresenius will not be responsible for it since there is no FMC approved instructions on how to rebuild, you and your clinic will be responsible for any injuries caused by th blood pump, $270 is not worth the agravation

It kinda is worth the $270. It's not going to be just ONE blood pump ok? Just think 3 a month, that's around $810.00 for one month and around 10,000.00 a year just on a blood pump. Wowzers!

Not at all I work for Davita, and it was brought up once to the national biomed manager and we were told not to rebuild for the above reasons

Well you can tell your National Biomed Manager that you have mad skills and you can do what you want to save "Davita" money. Because that's what we try to do.

I'd put my family, or myself on a machine that has a reworked bloodpump that I rebuilt. I test mine. I trust my work better than someone elses. That's patient saftey!

I will trust a new motor instead, nothing personal about your skills and knowledge

The question should be; Why are you going through so many blood pumps? I've worked on Fresenius machines for 6 years and have only had to replace 2 pumps in that time and it was on 10 year old H machines!
