lot NDD255100 I have had 3 out of 4 leak within the first 500hrs on a machine. Is this still a normal problem across the board? Are you all still having this problem out there?

PB,
The problem still happens from time to time. Save those leaky filters and contact Fresenius with the above information. They will more than likely exchange them.
PB. I am assuming you are refering to Diasafe Plus filters. I have had leaks from the following lot numbers. NAD16100, MKD25100,MLD03100 and NBD28100. The total combined filters that have leaked is 9. The explanation was that leaks were happening during heat disinfection (which they do) and that the weld at the header to body seam is where the problem is located. They are preparing a new welding process for the filter. Its a pain in the south side of poplar street because there are no audible alarms other than a machine message saying Recir Error. In the meantime if no one notices the flood you have a BIG mess on your hands and the potential for someone slipping and hurting themselves.
yea had one go bad during a treatment the staff did not tell me that the alarm online PHT test failed they just hit rest and went on and put another patient on!!!! The first patient had to go to the ER and the second one we handled. so now we are on "high alert". So it seems to be a problem all around not just certain lot #? Has FMC got a handle on the weld problem yet?

I mentioned the failure rate to our Fresenius tech, and was pointed to the insert with each filter...which says the filters are rated for 12 weeks OR max 100 treatments. Machines running 3 shifts a day buzz through 100 treatments pretty quickly.
True. But I am only getting 8 to 9 weeks and only 40 to 50 treatments and I only bleach once a week. I have had these Diasafes for alittle over 2 years and have never had a problem of getting to 3 months before changing them out.
I should have been more clear on my numbers. Some of the Diasafes would last only 8 to 9 weeks. And, yes at 8 weeks that would be 96 treatments. Other Diasafes would last only 40 or 50 treatments before failing. My point is when we first started using them a few years ago they would last 3 months and over 100 treatments and not fail at all. The Only reason for changing them was that they were due. So, why are they now rating them for 3 months or 100 treatments? If we use the 100 treatments number then you will be changing them every 2 months if you use the machine 2 times a day 6 times a week. If you use that machine 3 times a day, 6 days in a week then it has to changed every 5 1/2 weeeks. So what changed?
orc, I've been having the same thing going on here, 2 months or 9 weeks max, 2 shifts, 6 days a week, bleach X 1 per week. Last batch # NED 15100. I've never had one fail integrity test, they just pop during heat. I'm wondering if reducing the heat cycle time would help. I know the setting limits are from 10 to 60 minutes. What is everyone running at. I'm at 20 minutes.
FYI - i asked about the 100 treatment rule to ken cogswell in fresenius's tech dept. and he said they recommend changing the filters every 3 months or if the test fails. and to disregard the 100 treatment recomendation. he said to look at fresenius documents #507500 and 490072. these are fresenius usa's official recommendations. hope this helps.
