Is it necessary to check conductivity of the dialysate with external meter before each treatment?

All of the machine manufacturers reccomend that you do this. It has been my experience that there is about a 50/50 split on units actually doing this.

Most manufacturers recommend that you check conductivity manually to verify correct conductivity. As I and any maintenance technician for dialysis machines can almost certainly tell you what the machine reads is not always right. The machine can easily be wrong whether it be on accident, malfunction or error in the calibration. A calibration error can have the dialysate too low or too high yet the machine reads it perfectly. This can result in injury or death. So if we can prevent this with a simple test why not do it? We are in the medical field and we are here to save and prolong life? I can not imagine anyone would not volunterily not do this simple test.
