I have a K machine that will not power up. So far have done the following:

Replaced power control and logic board.

Replaced with good fuses in power suppyly.

Hooked up another good know front panel.

Replaced entire power supply with a new one.

Made sure GFCI wasnt tripped.

I'm stumped.. It wont power up the littlest of bit. Any suggestions?

You have verified that the outlet you are using has voltage to it with a volt meter? thus breaker....If so, then I would say bridge rectifier and fuses, but you said you changed the entire power supply.

Yes, the outlet has power checked with another machine to make sure cuz this is driving me crazy. I have changed the complete power supply with a brand new one. Changed power logic board and have replaced the front panel (complete) with a known good one. And the machine will not power up what so ever.. I'm am really stumped on this one. All connections are good and intact. Could this possibly be a mother board? I really hope not. but I'm open to suggestions anyone have this problem b4? I have not.

Other than replacing the m/b, I would try changing the 24v cable going into the m/b. If that does'nt work check your connections at your distribution board. Also check your voltages to confirm your getting 120vt power.

This happened after a 4K pm on it. I did a 4K on it Monday. Was running, passsing test, heating fine. Heat disinfected it everday. Came in today to heat disinfect, wouldn't power up thought hmmm. fuse must have blown. replaced and have been replacing parts ever since. I took a break from it till i get some feedback with suggestions.. I checked all the wiring for good connections and to see if maybe they were shorting on one another but all the wires look good and intact snug in the proper places..

I know you changed the power supply, I just want to know if there was a fuse blown and which one it was.

I have seen shorted heater rods take out power supplies and the instrument seems dead and will not turn on. Did you ohm out your heater rod after you changed power supplies etc.?

I second lowboy's idea about heater rods: I have (rarely) seen a heater rod cause very weird power problems that are fixed when the rod is replaced.

Also: remember that you have to continue to check your fuses every time you turn a machine on IF the problem is one that blows the fuses (admittedly rare). Until you find the problem and fix it, the fuses will blow every time you turn the machine on. I have seen people replace the fuses once, and then replace just about everything, not realizing that the fuses simply blew again when they turned the machine on.

Another thought is: have you replaced the CABLE from the power logic board to the PS ?? I have (rarely) seene this cause "turn on" problems.

Also, ONCE, I had a machine that would not turn on. What fixed it was, if you can believe it, simply unplugging the ground wire from the PS to the distribution board and plugging it back in. that is all I did and the machine ran fine after that.

Go figure.

Adam,

How many hours on the unit? Is this the first 4k PM done on this K unit? I would start tracing from the power cord to the pwr switch and move foward, I had the same problems with the H units and it was always either the bridge rectifier or power logic bd. One time I replaced the pwr switch. good luck and have fun!

Is the plug good? Have you tried a different outlet?
