The key to On line Clearance tests running sucessfully is machine stability. Is this happening only with a patient on the machine or does it happen when you try to test it in the repair area? And remember, there is a built in delay which allows the machine to stabilize that will not allow the test to be run one right after the other. First check the TCD and base sodium and bicarb settings to see if they are normal for the concentrate that you are using. Any thing like conductivity or blood pump speed that is fluctuating during the test will cause it to cancel. So you need to watch carefully when the test runs for a problem. Recalibrate or check conductivity, temperature, deair, loading and flow pressures. Try a different blood pump module in the machine in case the blood pump motor is $tarting to have a problem. (We all have learned how dependably problematic tho$$$e motor$$$ are.) Venous and arterial pressures have to remain constant during the test and a bad blood pump motor may affect those when a patient is on the machine. If it's not the motor some cals may need to done there also. And if you do all that and still have a problem, then switch in a known good sensor board from another machine and recal cond. (to get past the Conductivity Reference Failure) and temperature again. If that does it install the "bad" sensor board in the good machine, recal cond. and temperaure and see if the problem followed the board. You may get lucky and not have to repair the board. And it could also be a problem with an acid or bicarb pump or a balancing chamber membrane that is causing conductivity or TMP to fluctuate enough to cancel the test.Check in the Archives here for other answers about this problem, click on the "Find" tab above and search OLC Test. Again, the machine has to have stability to run the OLC test successfully.

In order to complete and pass OLC test is that there should be nothing wrong going on with the machine - in good health. I would normally complete the testing of the machine (Alarm and pressure tests), if diasafe test is necessary do it), let the machine stabilize 2 to 3 minutes (temperature and conductivity and no alarms) - then, push OLC test (Running OLC test)- this would take several minutes and then you will see OLC Test Passed.
One other item to check is the incoming water pressure regulator. Make sure it is set to the 18-20psi. The Fresenius instructor down in Texas told me about this one. He said that if the pressure is to high it will cause the OLC to cancel also. Hope this helps.

This thread is scary. "Don't know anything about it?" I hope you're not fixing these machines. Good luck.

Fresenius Makes a troubleshooting manual for there olc ...Ktech information is correct but a manual is less lenghty in its explanations

Hey frank - before you jump on this person's case, why not ask him/her politely what their qualifications are. I have been fixing machines for 25 yrs and have been to both k schools. But the ammount of info you get is pretty small about OLC. Especially with troubleshooting problems. So back off until you have more info.

Sorry Judgenotglasshouseboy, but stating "I don't know anything about it" when it is such a integral part of the machine is scary to me. Any tech that is required to fix these machines and does not know about OLC system should be concerned as well.
Thanks for the lecture though.

Actually, rarely does anyone properly finish, "Judge not....". If they did, they would see that the Holy Bible commands a right and fair judgement, meaning that when you judge someone you should apply the same standards to yourself. Biblically speaking, that could apply when correcting someone's religious beliefs because they don't match the standard-the Holy Bible.
Senior Frank was fair in his judgment because he would apply the same standards to himself. I'm sure he would think it to be fair to be questioned if he were to publically announce that he knew nothing.
