Help I have several Gambro Phoenix machines that I cant get to go through heat citric without giving me an empty chemical container alarm #83. I have replaced P2, P1,EV1S,EVS, recalibrated all pumps. Changed tubing, made sure no leaks??? They don’t have a problem with rinse, bleach and actril. Does anyone have an idea? I and Gambro support are at a loss.
Are there other units having problems with heat citric causing problems? Also I think that I have noticed a trend of heat exchangers leaking since we have started using heat citric.
Please give me any and all ideas Thanks

Had an issue with EVD/EVC valves leaking, giving me empty chemical alarms. Also had cracked connectors at chemical bottles giving me the same. To test, watch the chemical bottle hose and wait to see if the machine makes an attempt to pull chemical (chasin bubbles). If no bubbles detected, you can pull hose off bottom of EVD/EVC valves and check for suction, indicating bad valve.

Are you pulling citric from the front of the machine or back of machine?

citric from the back. I think I have it figured out..Temp was off so I changed out tp and tps. seems to be okay now, But this still doesn't explain why I have so many of these alarms??? no other advice?

I can't emagine bad temp probes would give Empty Chemical Container alarms. Are you certain on the alarms? Had an issue with (Heat Citric) an Over Temp alarm, turned out the heater rod was bad.

Was it alarm #82 or #83. 83 is Low Level In UF Vessel. #82 is DISINFECTANT CONTAINER EMPTY. Did you try changing out the peristalic tubing segement on the PS pump. If this goes bad you will have trouble pulling chemical up into the disinfectant tank. Another possibility though less likely is the valve body on EVD or EVC is bad. If your pulling citiric acid from the rear these are responsible for pulling the chemical into the machine. EVD is for the actril connector and EVC is for the bleach connector.

Sorry RS yes it was #82, and I changed out the PS pump totally, also Techmex I know it seems odd..I spoke with Gambro’s technical support and we found that in heat citric it cycles to phase 26 (i think that was the phase) which heats up to 100, if it can’t reach temp then it goes back to phase 17 (think that it) and will fail Empty Chemical Container! Don’t ask me why… I would think that if it was EVD or EVC that it would fail also in bleach and or actril, but they never do. Only in heat citric. I hope that these problems go away because I am really getting sick of this alarm. Thanks for the advice

hi
I have seen this problem but it is rare(we do not use heat citric often). We noted that when machine is in heat citric disinfect mode that condensation can form on the sterilent tank level sensors and cause hi and low level alarms. Also I find that citric acid leaves a film on the sensors which can cause similar alarms.
