We are planning to install a holding tank to store RO water to meet our demands in our unit. Can some one tell me the basic configuration and components (ie. submicron filters, uv lights...) I'd like to know also if it's necessary to run the water in the loop 24/7 to avoid any bacterial gowth. Any comments to help me with our project will be appreciated. we currently have a direct feeding. thanks

Why would you want to install a holding tank? You say it is to meet the demands of your unit. A correctly sized RO system is still necessary to feed the tank, so why bother with the tank. These days direct feed is the way to go. This avoids the need for extra pumps etc and additional problems of keeping the system clean.
The only reason that I can see for having a tank is to have one large enough to enable your unit to run for at least an entire shift in the event of the incoming water being cut off or the RO being off line. In my unit this would require a capacity of some 6000 litres!
We use a storage tank for just the problem of no incoming water or RO malfunction. I have not found it to be a problem to maintain especially if it is designed properly. We used US Filter to design the configuration which does indeeed run 24/7. We have a spray ball in the tank to spray the sides of the tank, and water circulates continuously in the tank. Post tank we have 2 sub-micron filters and a pressure relief valve on the return line. We have had the unit in place for over 5 years with no bacterial growth problems. Feel free to e-mail me if you have other questions.
